emerge
e·merge /əˈmərj/
verb
move out of or away from something and come into view; become apparent, important, or prominent; become known
Every year since 2012, I have chosen a word or theme to describe & set the tone for what I want to see that year. Last year, my word was ‘flourish’. While things didn’t go quite the way I’d planned, it was still a good year. Life threw a few curve balls and I did my best to handle those changes with class and grace.
This year, my word is ‘emerge’. As I sat down to really let that sink in my bones, I pondered on what I would like to see emerge this year. Initially, I thought it was about more visibility in my business since typically I play a more behind the scenes role as I support my clients. But I don’t think that’s it.
In 2020, I’d like to continue to emerge as an effective and inspiring leader for my team as I continue to build The Doyenne Agency. Now that I’m in a parenting role, I’d like to emerge as a loving and supportive parent to my nieces. One thing I know for sure, is that you move differently when legacy lives with you. I want to be an even more powerful example and guide as they grow into young women.
One thing I know for sure, is that I don’t know what this year or even this decade have in store. My hope and prayer is that no matter what happens, that in the end, I emerge as a better person, leader, wife, colleague, mom, daughter, sister and friend.
What’s your one word for 2020? I’d love to hear from you.
